A key role


Appointed by the Municipal Council, the Municipal Clerk has a pivotal operational role located at the top of the municipal pyramid: the official is the key link between the political authority and the administration.

The official is required to prepare the agenda for meetings held by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen and the Municipal Council and writes up the minutes. The Clerk also countersigns any documents issued by the administration (correspondence, Board and Council deliberations...).

The official's administrative management activities involve preparing and organising draft decisions to be taken by the Board and Council, while ensuring the decisions taken by these bodies are enforced by the departments.

The official supervises the staff services.
